 A Leapster
Toy may use additional cartridges for
Leapster games that are
purchased separately. Kids can choose their favorite
characters to play educational Leapster games with,
including TV personalities, such as SpongeBob
Squarepants, Thomas the Tank
Engine, and Dora the Explorer;
and movie stars, such as Nemo,
Cinderella, Ariel (The Little
Mermaid), and Batman. Leapfrog’s
own animated star, Tad, narrates a few as well. Stocking
up on the extra software
titles gives parents some control and input on
which characters they’d like their kids to learn from.
And, characters for these titles are appropriately matched
to the maturity of the targeted grade level (pre-K through
4th grade).
Designed for portability, a Leapster
Toy fits into a backpack or tote bag and is ideal for
educational fun on the go, whether it’s a quick game on the
school bus ride or hours of playtime during vacation trips.
Several accessories are available to keep your Leapster Toy and
games organized, portable, and protecte. Leapster2 games are designed to grow
with your child ages 4 through 8. The console is pre-loaded
with "Dragons to the Rescue!" and the "Creativity Castle Art
Studio".
An SD card (purchased separately) is required for taking
advantage of much of what the Leapster2 has to offer. The SD
card offers more memory for your Leapster toy, and access to
the online "Learning Path" which allows you to register and
upload your children's Leapster2 profiles to show you their
learning activities and their progress.
Without the SD card, you can still purchase Leapster games
cartridges. Plugging your Leapster toy into your PC with the
included USB cable, your children can view and print "rewards"
for completing different game levels or print pictures to color
with actual crayons (to encourage some "old-fashioned"
creativity!)
